Upgraded Sari Cosplay

Here I am at Botcon 2010 at Orlando, FL in my Upgraded Sari costume. I could be seen walking around in it on this past Saturday and Sunday of the convention.

This is the first cosplay I've done completely from scratch. The dress was modified from a pattern I bought from JoAnn's. It took about 3 yards of orange fabric and about 1 yard of yellow. All of it was put together on my mom's old sewing machine.

Found an inexpensive reddish/black wig on Amazon and gave it a haircut. I used the leftover hair to create the pigtails on top, with the help of this tutorial: [link] Also found the yellow fishnet stockings on Amazon.

The shoes were an inexpensive pair of Ocean Pacific slide on's I found at Walmart. I painted them with yellow and orange acrylic craft paint. The final touch was an orange button strategically placed over the logo on the strap of each shoe. I also had to wear orange gym shorts underneath that dress since it was a little on the short side. heh.

The final touch was the jet pack I created to wear as a backpack. It was assembled from illustration board, masking tape, construction paper, rubber cement, silver chrome spray paint and black satin ribbon for the straps. There was also the blue jewel on my chest I put together from a spare plastic container from a toy vending machine.

The entire cosplay cost about $50 to make, which is fairly cheap compared to the other intricate costumes I saw at the convention.
